«Когда люди встречают нашу банду в магазине, в банке, в парке и так далее, видят меня за рулем семейного минивэна, полного детьми, 99% из них, наверное, думает, что вот отец-молодец, дает жене возможность отдохнуть», — пишет Сет в своем посте на сайте Love What Matters , где он решил рассказать о том, как оказался в такой ситуации.
«Часто незнакомые люди делают мне комплименты, какой я хороший муж, или, мое любимое: “Похоже, сегодня вам не продохнуть…“. Ха-ха-ха. Обычно я просто улыбаюсь и продолжаю разговор, потому что, если начать объяснять, что я отец-одиночка на полную ставку, и у меня четверо младшеклассников на руках, это вызовет столько вопросов, что у меня не хватит времени на них отвечать», – добавил он.
Жена устала от семейной жизни
Сет и Крисси поженились очень рано, в 19 лет, вместе окончили колледж, и были счастливы. В марте 2008 года у них родился первый ребенок, дочка Стиви, а потом на свет один за другим появились еще трое малышей. Младшая, Олив, родилась в 2012 году.

Сету казалось, что все у них в семье идет как надо — он главный добытчик, преподает в местном университете, с детьми жене помогает до и после работы, а также по выходным.
Основную часть времени с детьми проводила Крисси. Однако с начала 2013 года положение вещей в семье Мегоу стало меняться. Крисси, похоже, устала от семейной жизни, и начала все чаще проводить время с друзьями, оставляя детей на Сета.
Дети ждали маму и спали под дверью
Время шло, жена появлялась дома все реже, и в какой-то момент Сет осознал, что вся тяжесть заботы о детях полностью легла на его плечи. Он до последнего надеялся, что все как-то образуется, и они с Крисси снова будут вместе и заживут счастливо.
Однако жена заявила, что хочет развестись и оставить детей ему. И совсем перестала появляться дома.
Сет впал в глубокую депрессию, да и детям приходилось несладко. «Однажды ночью, бродя в горе по дому, я обнаружил, что дети перебрались из своих кроваток и спят прямо под входной дверью, чтобы не пропустить маму, если она вдруг придет домой. Этот момент стал определяющим для меня», — пишет Сет.

Первый год, вспоминает Сет, был невероятно трудным. После развода Крисси совсем исчезла из жизни детей, рядом не было никого из родственников, кто мог бы помочь. Но Сет решил жить сегодняшним днем, и сделать все, чтобы дети не грустили.
Он постоянно придумывал разные веселые дела и игры, вместе с детьми развесил по всему дому их рисунки. Постепенно в семью вернулась жизнь, дети снова начали улыбаться, смеяться, предвкушать то, что принесет им предстоящий день.

С тех пор прошло уже более четырех лет, и все в семье Мегоу идет хорошо. Сет научился делать одновременно миллион дел, а еще миллион — держать в голове. Он даже успевает вести блог о своей безумной семейке под говорящим названием «Кто засунул мой iPad в посудомойку?», а в инстаграме у него более полутора тысяч подписчиков.
«Папа, пожалуйста, сходи на свидание!»
Стиви, Нила, Титус и Олив поняли, почему мама и папа развелись, и теперь мечтают найти для любимого папы новую жену, чтобы он снова был счастлив. Правда, Сет говорит, что и так счастлив, а из-за их настойчивости и непосредственности постоянно попадает в неловкие ситуации.
Каждый раз, как мы встречаем где-нибудь симпатичную с их точки зрения девушку или женщину, они бросаются к ней с воплями: “Привет! Вы не хотите выйти замуж за нашего папу?” Сет Мегоу
«Я краснею, смотрю в пол и делаю вид, что ничего не слышал. Они пытаются свести меня хоть с кем-нибудь. Увидев какую-нибудь женщину, они такие: “Папа! Смотри, какая красивая девушка!” Они даже дают мне советы, типа: “Папа, ты должен носить узкие джинсы!” — рассказал Сет в интервью журналу PEOPLE . — Их раздражает, что я так апатично отношусь к свиданиям. Я такой: “Мне нравится с вами тусоваться”, а они: “Ну папа, ну пожалуйста, ну сходи на свидание!”»
По словам Сета, он все-таки сходил за эти годы на несколько свиданий, но без особого успеха, и совершенно доволен тем, как они с детьми проводят время. «Однажды я женюсь, но до тех пор собираюсь жить и получать удовольствие от жизни, от своих детей. Быть папой очень весело», — говорит Сет.
