В отличие от русского Нового года, в Германии главный праздник – Рождество. Его празднуют 25 декабря, а затем все уходят на каникулы – до 2-3 января.

Подготовку к празднику начинают с адвента. Это отрезок времени с начала декабря до Рождественского сочельника – подготовка и ожидание праздника. Всем немецким детям покупают адвент-календари. Чаще всего это шоколадный набор с пронумерованными дверками. Дверки нужно открывать – по одной каждый день до Рождества. Внутри лежат шоколадки в виде звезды, оленя или Деда Мороза. По-немецки Дед Мороз называется Вайнахтсман – Рождественский Человек.
С начала декабря начинают украшать детский сад. На каждом этаже есть мастерские, где дети делают украшения вместе с воспитателями. К середине декабря сад превращается в волшебное место, где под потолком летают олени из папье-маше, лестницы увиты гирляндами, искусственной елью – все искрит и сверкает.
Второй пункт подготовки к Рождеству – день Святого Николая, т.н. «Николаус-таг». Его празднуют 6 декабря. Уже с утра в саду детей на их полочках встречают сладкие сувениры – шоколадка и несколько конфет.

Но основная феерия – вечером. Придя из сада, дети чистят свои ботинки и выставляют их на ночь за дверь. По традиции святой Николай ночью обходит дома и кладет сласти в ботиночки хороших детей (то есть – всех). Чистит ботинки и наша Ксения.
Ночью мы со вздохом кладем в них новую порцию шоколада. А с утра обнаруживаем рядом с нашей порцией еще большое яйцо «Киндер-Сюрприз». Это наша соседка фрау Менк ежегодно передает Ксении привет от Николауса.
Ксения счастлива. Теперь у нее есть адвент-календарь, шоколадное яйцо размером с чайник, подарок из ботинка, подарок из сада.
На Рождество в саду дети получают еще один (правда, небольшой) сладкий подарок. Праздник не похож на новогодние утренники в русских детских садах. У детей нет хоровода вокруг елки, присутствие Вайнахтсмана – вариативно: иногда его играет один из воспитателей, иногда и вовсе обходятся без него.
Но самое главное – нет принудительных поборов. Сладкие подарки детям оплачивают из резервного садиковского фонда. Его формируют, откладывая часть из нашей ежемесячной платы.

На дверях вывешивают лист с вещами, которые можно принести в детский сад в подарок группе. Это, как правило, небольшие вещи: в этом году группе нужны две коляски для кукол, не помешают наборы карандашей, фломастеров и цветные клеящиеся ленты. Все добровольно.
Родители, которые готовы приобрести это для сада, записывают свои фамилии на листе. Если желающих не найдется (но такого пока не было), сад решит проблему своими силами.
Накануне Рождества в саду дети с воспитателями пекут печенье для праздничного стола. С утра все собираются на завтрак. Украшают столы, поют рождественские песни под гитару.
Наряжаться Снежинкой, Зайчиком или Снегурочкой не принято. Но если ребенок хочет – как и в любые другие дни, – он может нарядиться кем душа пожелает. Наши 5-летние девочки – Ксения и ее подружки – обычно выбирают в этот день свои самые нарядные платья.

На Рождество принято дарить подарки и дома. Опасаясь передозировки шоколада, мы избегаем покупать сладости к столу. Но именно в эти дни приходит новогодняя посылка от бабушек из России.
На сам Новый год в Германии семьи запускают фейерверки, делают небольшой праздничный стол. Все подарки – в основном – уже подарены на Рождество. Но только не в нашей семье.
«А что мне положит под елочку Дед Мороз?» – интересуется Ксения. «Но ведь тебе уже что-то положил под елочку Вайнахтсман. А потом еще приходил Святой Николаус. А потом еще подъехала посылка из России. А потом еще целый месяц ты ела сладкий адвент-календарь», – отвечаем мы, но в душе понимаем: от новогоднего подарка не отвертеться.
Мы решаем: с 1 января в квартире будет введен жесткий подарочно-шоколадный контроль. Красная от сластей детская попа будет переведена на овсянку, гречку и шпинат. Как минимум – до православного Рождества.
